Survivors' voices

 

We work with survivors so they can be heard and have influence.

 

BRC&SASS asks women and girls who use our services if they want to be kept informed and let them know about consultations. These women take the lead in making sure there is information about our services at community events and help to run our stalls.

 

West Yorkshire Survivor Leaders Group

 

West Yorkshire Survivor Leaders Group is a partnership of the 3 WY Rape Crisis Centres: BRC&SASS, SARSVL and RASAC. Currently the Steering Group consists of 8 women from across West Yorkshire. The group supports, equips and enables survivors of sexual violence to lead the change in how people and organisations respond to sexual violence.

 

We are creating a community of survivors built on mutual respect and support. We aim to establish a network of survivors and survivor groups that want to fight for change. We will do this by connecting survivors from different backgrounds and parts of West Yorkshire and working in a trauma informed and inclusive way. We want to ensure organisations, institutions, decision & policy makers are listening and engaged with people with lived experience.

 

 

Survivor Leadership – 2026: Get involved!

 

We have exciting plans to create a Bradford Survivor Leaders group – we want women from across Bradford to get to know each other through attending free training sessions. These sessions will cover; social action, campaigning, self and collective care, creating safe spaces for survivors and other essential topics needed to understand survivor leadership.

 

Some sessions will be face-to-face in a central Bradford location; some sessions will be delivered online. Sessions will be delivered by women currently involved with the project and guest speakers who have long-standing experience of being a public facing Survivor.

 

We will be offering an online information session for you to find out more about West Yorkshire Survivor Leaders project.
