West Yorkshire Survivor Pathfinder

West Yorkshire Survivor Pathfinder is a new pilot partnership project funded by NHSE, bringing together NHS mental health services alongside specialist rape crisis centres: Kirklees, Calderdale and Wakefield RASAC, Support After Rape and Sexual Violence Leeds, and Bradford Rape Crisis.

West Yorkshire Survivor Pathfinder is designed specifically for adult survivors of rape and/or sexual abuse living with complex trauma-related mental health needs.

At Bradford Rape Crisis, this service is designed to support individuals who meet the following criteria:

  • Women
  • Survivor of rape and/or sexual abuse.
  • 18+
  • Bradford postcode
  • Complex & significant trauma-related mental health needs. May have but do not require mental health diagnosis.
  • 3+ domains of unmet need. E.g. mental health, substance use, housing, relationships, finances, ongoing domestic abuse concerns, employment/education, impact of sexual assault related needs, ongoing personal criminal justice concerns.
  • These domains of need are not currently being met by another agency.
  • Client is experiencing difficulty engaging (i.e. attending appointments, leaving the home).
  • Where client is currently psychiatric inpatient or Intensive Home Treatment Team, Pathfinder will review suitability on case by case basis and likely offer to attend discharge planning meetings to ascertain need and readiness for Pathfinder.

Service offer:

Clients will be assigned a worker who will work intensively with them to address a range of needs and further their recovery. The support is delivered via outreach, home visits and support at the centre, tailored to the client's needs.

WY Survivor Pathfinder aims to create a safer, collaborative pathway that meets survivors where they are, respecting their lived experiences and supporting their unique recovery journeys. By bringing together NHS mental health services and specialist rape crisis centres, we hope to address the gaps survivors often face when living with complex trauma-related mental health needs following sexual violence.
