Who we are
Bradford Rape Crisis and Sexual Abuse Survivors Service is a feminist organisation run by women for women and girls. We provide support services which are free, independent and confidential.
We have been running services for women and girls for over 40 years, and have a wealth of experience in helping women and girls to recover from sexual violence and take control of their lives.
We recognise that rape and sexual abuse are gendered crimes with the majority of survivors of sexual violence being women and children, and the majority of perpetrators being men. We acknowledge the power imbalance between men and women that allows sexual abuse to happen.
We also recognise that other forms of inequality play a part in sexual abuse, such as class, race, disability, sexuality and age.
We are a diverse group of women who have all had specialist training in working with survivors of sexual abuse. In our team we have professional counsellors, group therapists, experienced helpline workers and advocates.
We are a charity governed by a voluntary board of trustees made up of women from the local community.
Our funding comes from a range of local and national bodies and from individual donations.
We are part of Rape Crisis England and Wales and we uphold their National Standards for all member centres.
